Where do voice coaching sessions happen?

While my studio is based in Chicago, IL, I will meet you wherever in the world you are, virtually, via Zoom. I have been both a client and coach in the digital space for many years and I find it to be an amazingly efficient and effective environment for deep voice work. Even further, it offers a convenience that I find suits the lifestyle of my clients. There may aspects of virtual voice coaching that are superior to IRL. I wrote a blog about it if you’d like to know more.

What equipment do I need for virtual voice coaching sessions?

The only two things you really need are a stable internet connection and a laptop or desktop computer. I am not able to conduct our sessions on a tablet or mobile phone as working via Zoom requires settings that are not available on those devices.

How much does voice coaching cost?

Our initial 60 minute, virtual voice clarity session is $247 USD.

If we then determine we are a good fit, you will have access to an eight session, four month coaching package, priced at $1976 USD.

Are payment plans available?

Yes! A monthly payment plan is available that breaks the package rate up into four monthly installments at no additional cost.

What happens at the end of a nine session, four month voice coaching package?

At the end of your package, we will celebrate your victories, explore your challenges and consider an option to renew. For long-term clients, a monthly retainer option will also be available.

Are these voice lessons or is this life coaching?

Both and neither. ☺️ Here’s the thing, we are going to use singing as our primary focus and my priority is to help you use your voice with more freedom confidence and ease. But, I have learned from experience that if we don’t address other areas of your life as well, it will slow your process. Even further, as you confront certain blocks with your voice, inevitably you will see parallels in other areas of your life. It is important to name and hold space for all of that.

Logistically, this can play out a number of different ways, but often means spending the first bit of our session catching up and chatting about different things that have come up since our last session. Then, spending the rest of our time working on finding more functional freedom with your voice through embodied singing.

Honestly, the best experiences are hard to explain aren’t they? So, if you still feel confused but are curious, feel free to setup a voice clarity session to get a taste of what this whole thing is about.

What voice methodology do you work with?

The primary lens through which I see and hear the voice is that of Somatic Voicework, The LoVetri Method(tm). If you’ve read or listened to my story, you know that Jeanie LoVetri has been tremendously influential in my voice journey. In addition, I have had the great privilege of working with other important teachers, guides and coaches, all of whom I’ve detailed in my about page.

Do you work with singers who have voice pathology?
(e.g. polyps, nodules, cysts, granuloma)

In short, yes. But, I will only do this in tandem with or following the work of other health care professionals, such as a laryngologist and/or speech language pathologist (SLP). Even further, I may encourage you to seek naturopathic treatment and/or psychotherapy to full explore the root cause of your pathology. As a singer, you are at your best when you have a community of support around you and I am happy to help you set that team up.

If you’d like to know more about what a laryngologist is/does, check out episode six of my pocast The Sound of You with Dr. Steve Sims.

Do you work with people who are completely new to singing?

Not usually.

Most often, I work with people who have at least a little bit of experience singing in front of others as I find this allows me to do the deep work in which I excel. That being said, over the years, I’ve met a few folx with extremely limited experience (read: only singing in their bedroom) that have really knocked my socks off with their bravery, willingness and commitment. In those situation, coaching has been the impetus for real change and I’ve considered it a great privilege to be a part of their journey.

If you find yourself at this juncture on your voice journey, please request a voice clarity session. We may just be a good fit.

Do you offer artistic and creative consulting?

Yes! While this sometimes naturally emerges as a part of general voice coaching, I am also happy to specifically focus our sessions on helping you build your creative, artistic identity and brand. This can take on many shapes and forms, but may include:

  • Understanding and choosing genre of focus

  • Determining an efficient path toward recording and performing

  • Concepting an EP or album

  • Reviewing and giving feedback on current or past projects

  • Artist image consulting

  • Focusing your creative trajectory

While no one else’s vision matters as much as yours, it can be useful to have someone you can trust for honest feedback, who will push you to think outside the box… which I love to do!

If this sounds interesting to you, please request a voice clarity session.

Do you produce vocals for recordings?

Absolutely. As an additional service, I am happy to act as vocal producer for your recording project. While recording producers are essential in pulling together the overall vibe of your album, ep or single, as a vocal producer I can help you actually get the sound you want from your voice in the studio. This can be useful for both experienced artists who are frustrated by the recording process and/or beginning artists who need someone to shepherd them along the way.

If you are interested in this service, please request via the general contact form.
