Performance: Davin sings It’s Hard To Speak My Heart from Parade
September 13, 2014
When I came back from Virginia in July, one of my promises to myself was that I would find more instrumentalists to collaborate with and make MAKING music a bigger priority in my life. Teaching and building a business can be all consuming, and although it is a passion and love of mine, my heart first nourished by using my own voice. As many of you can attest to, it can be hard to carve out time in our lives for the things we really love to do, but for me, no more excuses. Make it happen.
So, that’s why I reached out to Paul Hamilton. One of my fellow voice teachers who is from the south had given me his contact info and instructed me that I “had to meet Paul.” So, thanks to the great connector that is Facebook, I reached out and told him I was instructed to meet him. After a really long phone conversation, we decided to hang out and make music together.
We’ve been working on a number of different things, but this musical theatre tune seemed to click right away, so Paul, who is also a videographer, asked if we could record our rehearsal of it. I’m so pleased to be able to watch and hear it as it represents me being true to what I vowed to do. Make music. It feels good, y’all.
Much more of this to come.
