Announcement: Fine Arts Building, Open Studios - December 13
November 29, 2013
Last year was my first holiday season occupying the current studio space at 410 South Michigan Ave. I moved in December 1st and was quickly made aware of the open studios event, or A Night at the Fine Arts Building which happens the second Friday of the month. I was told it attracted a big, fun crowd and I should plan to participate. So, I did. I made my way to Trade Joe’s to pick up a few bottles of wine and some sweet snacks. I also thought it would be fun if I accompanied myself on some sporadic holiday song as people came in and out of the studio.
All of this was good planning, except I didn’t understand one important component of the evening. SCALE. Over 3,000 people came through the building that night! Needless to say, the wine ran dry quickly and I found myself singing and playing the piano for nearly four hours straight. It was overwhelming and awesome!
So, here’s the deal. This year, I’m better prepared and I’d like to invite you to come join me in the fun. There will be plenty of wine and song to go around. I’ve invited a piano playing friend to support our singing with his skills and I’ve asked a number of students to aid us with their voices. It’s a great event to stop by after work or on your way to a holiday party. It’s also good opportunity to peek around the oldest artist colony in the US.
Here are the details: Friday, December 13, 6 - 8:30pm @ 410 South Michigan Avenue, Studio 540
I hope to see you there!
