DYV On the town: Davin Youngs Voice invades Davenport’s Piano Bar
March 26, 2014
Have I mentioned how much I love my job? Monday was just another instance where I was knocked over by the privilege Missy and I have to share the singing experience with so many of you. Teaching voice lessons in the studio is one thing, but last Monday, we decided to go public with the whole thing and join a group to participate in a open mic night at a local piano bar called Davenport’s. There were about 10 of us in attendance, and six of us shared a song.
Look, if you’re learning to sing and are serious about being a performer, opportunities like this are as good as it gets. A safe space to sing with a supportive group… oh, and a few drinks! Sure it’s scary and I’m quite certain two students are still a little miffed at me for getting them up on the stage, but I’m also quite confident in their performance and even more confident that they’ll thank me later. There’s only one way to get better… do it! I’m looking forward to more of these and I hope if you’re studying singing at Davin Youngs Voice, you’ll consider joining!
